Sony Pictures Television Diverse Writers Program selects sixteen participants for a six-week professional development program in which they will have discussions with creative executives, producers, seasoned writers and showrunners with the aim of honing their skills in writing scripted television.

In addition to having the opportunity to network with industry professionals, each writer will be assigned a mentor from SPT’s robust pool of producers and writers.

At the conclusion of the training portion of the program, participants will meet with SPT showrunners and producers and be considered for potential staffing opportunities on US productions.

SPT will also select up to four writers with whom to develop pilot scripts for both comedies and dramas. This initiative is part of SPT’s commitment to providing opportunities to talented artists of diverse backgrounds.

Alumni Spotlight

Francisco Cabrera-Feo

Francisco Cabrera-Feo is a Gen-Z bisexual, bilingual, and bittersweet writer/director raised by an activist mother in Venezuela before emigrating to South Florida at age 11. He recently finished writing on Season 3 of Eugenio Derbez's Acapulco (AppleTV+) and is now developing projects for Sony Pictures TV and ABC Signature.

The Los Angeles Times recently called him both "a writer on the rise" and "thirsty on Twitter" -- he cannot confirm or deny either. He writes for the closeted chubby kids who wore t-shirts in the pool and were forced into Catholic school even if the body of Christ compelled them.
